How to use ego (lite) with Cursor
Set up Cursor browser automation with ego (lite). Enable Full access, load ego-browser, reuse your signed-in browser session, and complete a browser task.
Cursor browser automation with ego (lite) is useful when a task needs the browser profile you already use. Cursor has its own built-in Browser pane, but this guide covers a different path: the ego-browser skill launches ego (lite), works in a separate agent Space, and uses the signed-in session available there.
The full video follows one small task from beginning to end. Cursor opens Anthropic's X profile, reads five posts, and returns the result in the Agent conversation.
Before you start: install ego (lite)
Install ego (lite) and finish onboarding before you open the Cursor Agent panel.
- Download the DMG and open it
- Follow the instructions and double-click the ego (lite) icon to install
- Open ego (lite) and finish onboarding
- Open a project or folder you trust in Cursor
Onboarding writes ego-browser to ~/.agents/skills/. If Cursor was open during that step, quit and reopen it so the skill picker refreshes.
Step 1: Enable Full access
Open Settings > Agents > Approvals & Execution and choose Run Everything.
Step 2: Load the ego-browser skill
Open the Agent panel and type /ego in the prompt box. Choose ego-browser when it appears.
The skill can now open ego (lite), create an agent Space, and drive pages inside it. Your normal tabs stay in their own Space. If the picker has no result, check that onboarding finished and restart Cursor once.
Step 3: Let Cursor work in the browser
Give the task to Cursor. The Agent will use ego-browser to open Anthropic's X profile in ego (lite), read the requested posts, and prepare the result in the Cursor conversation.
Step 4: Complete the task
When the run finishes, Cursor returns the five posts with their visible details, direct links, and a short summary of each post. Anthropic's X profile remains open in ego (lite), and the browser task is complete.
Troubleshooting
ego-browser doesn't appear
Finish ego (lite) onboarding, quit Cursor, and open it again. Type /ego in the Agent panel. The installed skill should be in ~/.agents/skills/.
Cursor loads the skill but ego (lite) doesn't open
In Cursor 3.6 or later, check Settings > Agents > Approvals & Execution > Run Everything. On the older interface shown in the video, choose Run Everything (Unsandboxed) instead of Ask Every Time.
X asks you to sign in or verify the account
Take over in the ego (lite) agent Space and finish the login or verification yourself. Then ask Cursor to continue in the same Space. Never paste a password or verification code into the prompt.
