How to use ego (lite) with Claude Code

Claude Code can use ego-browser to work in an ego (lite) Space on Windows. This recording follows a Reddit research task from the Claude Code session through the final result.

The example asks Claude Code to find a popular post from the past week, open it, and report the details visible on Reddit. You can follow the same steps with a task of your own.

Before you start: install ego (lite)

Install ego (lite) on Windows and finish setup. Open Claude Desktop on the same computer and start a local Code session. If you need help with the browser setup, begin with Quick start.

Check that ego-browser appears in Claude Code's skills. If it does not, finish ego (lite) setup, restart Claude Desktop, and check again.

Use Code mode

Select Code at the top of Claude Desktop. The recording starts on the Home screen, then switches to a local Code session where you can enter the browser task.

Step 1: Set session permissions

In the Code session, open the permission selector below the input box and choose Bypass permissions. The recording shows this option in the Windows app. It lets Claude Code launch ego (lite) and run the browser task without stopping for approval at each command.

Step 2: Load the ego-browser skill

Type /ego-browser in the Code session and select the skill. Then describe the browser task you want Claude Code to run.

Step 3: Let Claude Code work

Claude Code opens Reddit in an ego (lite) Space, finds a post, and reads the page. You can switch to the agent Space to watch its progress. Your own tabs stay in your Space while the task runs.

Step 4: Check the result

Claude Code returns a table with the post details and a link to the source. In the recording, Reddit does not show a view count, so the table says not shown. Open the link and check the figures against the page before using the result.

Troubleshooting

ego-browser is missing

Make sure you are in a local Code session. If you completed ego (lite) setup while Claude Desktop was open, restart Claude Desktop and check the skill list again.

Claude Code cannot open ego (lite)

Check that ego (lite) is installed on the same Windows computer and review the session's permission setting. If Claude Code shows a permission request, follow the prompt before retrying the task.

Reddit asks you to sign in

Open the agent Space in ego (lite), complete the sign-in or verification yourself, and then ask Claude Code to continue. Keep passwords and verification codes out of the task prompt.
